Origin Settings

Origin settings specify where CDNetworks retrieves live streams for an Origin Pull delivery domain. You can update one domain, configure failover or traffic distribution across origins, or apply the same settings to multiple domains.

This guide covers HTTP-FLV, RTMP, and HLS origin pull. For other origin protocols, use the options available in the console. Contact CDNetworks support if a required setting is unavailable.

Before you begin

Before you configure origin settings, make sure you have:

• Access to Media Acceleration Live Broadcast > Configuration in the CDNetworks console.
• An Active delivery domain configured for Origin Pull.
• The origin IP addresses or hostname, connection port, and any Host header requirements.
• For batch edits, domains that use the same origin protocol family, such as HLS domains only or HTTP-FLV/RTMP domains only.

Configure origin settings for one domain

1. Go to Media Acceleration Live Broadcast > Configuration.
2. In the domain list, find the Origin Pull delivery domain.
3. In the Actions column, choose Edit Origin.
4. On the Edit Origin page, configure the origin settings.

5. To test connectivity before continuing, choose Origin Availability Test.
6. Choose Save Draft to save the configuration as a draft, or choose Next to continue the configuration workflow.

Configure multi-origin routing

Use Multi-Origin Routing when a domain needs more than one origin address. The available controls depend on the origin protocol.

HTTP-FLV and RTMP origin pull

Set Multi-Origin Routing to On, then add the origin addresses.

1. Choose Add below the origin address table.
2. Configure the origin address.
   • Origin Address: The origin server IP address or hostname.
   • Origin Host Header: The Host header value for this origin address, where supported.
3. Use Round-Robin to control how CDNetworks selects an origin.

HLS origin pull

For HLS origin pull, multi-origin routing uses Origin Priority and Origin Weight.

1. Choose Add below the origin address table.
2. Configure the origin address.

Update origins in batch

Use batch editing when multiple compatible domains need the same origin settings.

1. Go to Media Acceleration Live Broadcast > Configuration.
2. In the domain list, select the domains that you want to update.
3. Choose Batch Edit Origin.
4. Configure the origin settings.
5. Choose Next to continue the configuration workflow.

Important: All selected domains must be Active, use Origin Pull, and belong to the same origin protocol family. For the protocols covered here, select HTTP-FLV/RTMP domains together or HLS domains together.
