This article describes how to quickly add an edge hostname and configure traffic routing policies.
Step 1: Create an edge hostname
Log in to the portal. On the list of subscribed products, find CDN Pro, then click it to open CDN Pro console. Click the Edge Hostname menu on the left to enter the edge hostnames management page. Click the Create an Edge Hostname button in the upper-left corner.
Step 2: Configure the edge hostname
On the edge hostname creation form, fill in form fields, including basic information and client zone rules.
2.1 Basic information
Provide basic information for the edge hostname.
- Description: Enter a description for the edge hostname.
- Server Group including mainland China: Select “Yes” if you want to use nodes located in mainland China to deliver content; select “No” if you only need nodes outside mainland China. Do not select “Yes” if your hostnames do not have ICP beian license as required by the authorities.
- Hostname: Click Auto-Generate to create an edge hostname prefix, or enter your own.
2.2 Client zone rules
Click Add, then configure traffic routing policies for visitors from different client zones in the pop-up form.
- Client Region: Select the region to which the rule applies. Here we choose “All”, meaning the rule applies to visitors from all regions.
- Client ISP: Select the ISP to which the rule applies. Here we choose “All”, meaning the rule applies to visitors of all ISPs.
- Action type: Choose how to handle visitor traffic. Select “Deliver”, meaning deliver content to visitors.
- Server group: Select what server groups to use to deliver content. You can select all server groups to achieve best performance.
- Enable IPv6: If you have IPv6 users, select “Yes”.
- Weight: Set the weight for this client zone rule. The default is 100%.
Step 3: Save the edge hostname
After filling in required fields, click the Save button at the bottom of the page to submit. When accepted, the system will create and deploy the edge hostname for you. You can see the new edge hostname in the edge hostnames list.
It ususally takes a few minutes to propagate DNS records. Please check that the new edge hostname can be resolved before pointing your hostname to the edge hostname.
